Advanced Topics in Macroeconomics II

Welcome to the website of Advanced Topics in Macroeconomics II (03107). This course is the second step in the field of macroeconomics that Ph.D. students in economics take at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE). It focuses on the analysis of DSGEM (Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models) as a framework to discuss short-term business cycles. It covers the main techniques required to have a good grasp of what DSGEM is all about: the theory of basic modern macroeconomic models, optimization, linearization, perturbation, projection, and computation. The computing language used in this course is Julia and we want to avoid, as much as possible, the "black box" computational approach to simulate macroeconomic models.

On this page, one will find everything needed to monitor this course: slides, Julia code, readings, exercises, tests from previous years, and other support material that may be used this semester.
